Also, Keyboard Viewer comes up with my small MacBook Pro keyboard, but then it flips around between two other (larger) keyboards as I type (Caps Lock shows as working in Keyboard Viewer, but it doesn't work in TextEdit). Strangely, it works (without the light) when I have to enter my password to unlock System Preferences. I've checked everything in System Preferences/Keyboard, toggled Caps Lock in Modifier Keys and restarted, Restore Defaults and restarted, and checked everything in System Preferences/Accessibility. It also works for a few seconds after login, until the macOS menu bar appears. It works in the login screen (light goes on and off, Caps Lock indicator appears/disappears in the password field). The Caps Lock key does not work after logging in.
